Welcome to Thompson First the family run car dealership established in 1972. Started By Dick Thompson and Paul Lacey as Lacey and Thompson. We have had franchises from TVR and Saab in the early days to then switching to Citroen for the last 40 years. In 2000 Lacey and Thompson became Thompson First, while at this point was ran by Dick's son Cameron.
Thompson First is now in its 3rd Generation with the dealership now being ran by Cameron's son Scott who came into the business in 2012. In 2019 we are going to make our next big change bringing back the MG franchise back to Stroud.

In the last 25 or so years, I've purchased a number of different used cars with varying degrees of satisfaction with car dealerships / salespeople. Today I purchased my first ever new car (MG5 EV) from Thompson First. The experience has been, from start to finish, comfortably the best experience I have ever had in buying a car. Scott in particular has been very helpful.
Most of the transaction has taken place over email and I visited the showroom today for the first time to collect the car. I'm really very impressed and very grateful. I would recommend Thompson First without hesitation. I would also recommend using them even if you aren't particularly local because so much can be done remotely. The car itself is exceptional as well. If you're considering the move to EV motoring, MG really must be on your shortlist.
