I've had some memorable dealings with VW Sinclair Newport over the last couple of years; 1. Staff member sat in the car 'measuring' temperature with their hands. 2. Staff member telling one alloy wheel was beyond refurbishment (so I bought an additional wheel 170 it was never used - it's in my garage - all 4 original wheels refurbished) Same person plucked 1000 to replace the pan roof seal out of thin air. 3. Email from manager regarding a refund on a parts order they got wrong (unused/unopened) written as though he were shouting at me! However, the best was having wheels refurbished (Diamond cut) - I left the car with them on a Wednesday afternoon, I was assured it would be ready on the Friday.
The following Monday (all the while I am to contribute to replacement/hire car costs) they informed me that the car was no where near ready and in fact, it cannot be completed at the agreed price but can be completed for an increase of almost 100% on that original price - I collected my car and took it elsewhere. Oh and the time I picked my car up following an MOT only to be greeted by a sensor/warning light which was not there when I had dropped it off, accompanied by a documented 84 fee to diagnose the fault.
I am writing this whilst on hold with VW to cancel my service plan. VW Newport's response to this review with my *My comments Good Afternoon Mr Mansfield, Thank you for your email and indeed your google review. I was disappointed to read this, as while I understand that you were disappointed, I thought we had explained not only why what had happened, had happened, but had answered any questions going back to April of this year. Additionally, the mention of the price increase makes no reference to why the price had increased and indeed, no mention of the alternate company telling you the same as we did upon review of the work required. *This is incorrect - The Wheel Specialist (Llantarnam, Cwmbran) did not tell me the same. TWS completed the work on time and for their original price.
There were no issues with TWS at all. VW Newport failed to advise me what their Diamond Cut service involved. Effectively, VW only refurbish the face of the wheel, the rest of the wheel would have been untreated, unless I had paid VW 900 instead of the agreed 500. I was not told any of this until after the work had begun* I am also mindful that nowhere in these reviews does it mention the work we have done to save you large sums of money on a vehicle neither purchased from us or indeed that carries (or carried) either a Sinclair or VW Warranty. *This is reference to my request that work be completed under a 2 year third party warranty I had with the car when I bought it.
If that was not possible then I would have taken it elsewhere. VW did not save me "large sums of money". They made "large sums of money" from my warranty company* I am of course mindful that we do not always get things right and whilst we do not profess to be perfect, strive to offer the best level of service we can. This is why we have dealt with Independent Sales Centres, Non Sinclair or VW Warranty companies and indeed VW UK on your behalf. *The Indy Sales Centre paid VW Newport for work done.
The third party warranty company paid VW Newport for work done. Further "large sums of money" made by Newport VW thanks to my custom. VWUK were only involved when I sought their advice on another VW dealer's incompetent workmanship (they hadn't replaced all bolts on water pump/cam belt)* In light of this and other Survey reviews received, we are seemingly unable to reach the level of service that you require and as a result, would suggest that another VW retailer is used.
It is with regret that we suggest this however in light of the situation that has arisen on several occasions we feel this would be more beneficial to you. *In my review I stated I am cancelling my service plan, I will no longer be using or recommending VW Sinclair Newport*

Possible one of the worst customer care experiences I've had. Had no knowledge of the golf r clearly. Told me last service the gearbox was over due and again this service, my model is at 80k. Asked for the Hadex filter to be cleaned never got done and was only told at the end of the day, we don't clean them just change the oik. Avoid if you have a golf r

My daughter needed a car for work and needed it in a hurry! Even so she had viewed a few cars as she is quite particular about things being right within the cockpit (infotainment, etc). Last Monday, we met Elliott Jackson and viewed a lovely Polo, which had every comfort she needed alongside a two year warrant, roadside assistance, etc and decided to buy it - thereby setting Elliott a short timescale.
True to his word, Elliott and colleagues ensured that the customary checks, paintwork and any faults were remedied and we picked it up on Friday. At no time was there any pressure on us to buy the car. Awesome service thanks.

Easily the most frustrating interaction with a dealership to date. The issue with my car created several issues across Vw roadside assist, the courtesy car provider, and this particular dealership. I was told I'd be called on certain times and days, but this did not happen and I had to call. Not once was any contact initiated by this dealership, other than to say my car was ready.
Once getting there things were explained to me about what happened to my car and I was apologised to for the poor communication. The tone and attitude was not fitting for the experience I had across the few days with several aspects of VW as a whole, which increased my frustration. I was given a contact number to complain to some about all aspects of this fault with my car, but basic customer service skills would have helped in this instance.
I then went to the Cardiff branch to book in for a service, as this is my local branch and I was welcomed the the excellent customer service I have always experienced in that particular branch. I explained my whole experience across the week, and indeed the Newport branch. This did not appear to be a surprise in terms of the Newport branch being so poor.
My time in the Cardiff branch was lovely and I was treated with excellent customer service while explaining what I had experienced this week, and earlier that day. The staff In Cardiff had the correct attitude and never once took the approach of 'VW is the biggest car manufacturer in the world, therefore this instance tough luck, just listen to how fantastic we are.' Which is how I felt after picking my car up earlier in the day.
