I purchased a car from this garage around 2 years ago and it was the biggest mistake I could ever make! The first night I had the car on my drive I noticed it had a leak so I rang the garage straight away and they took the car away and supposedly sorted the problem out, then this happened again so they took the car away again and same again, they reassured me the problem was sorted. Weeks later the leak was still there, I was so fed up with living without my car for days as I didn't live near the garage so I just took my car to my local garage to get the leak repaired once and for all which on checking the car after they informed me the cylinder head gasket was broke and would cost over J400.00 to repair.
I then got back in touch with Owlet Cars and after a long dispute they agreed to pay for the part on the condition I paid their mechanic a J100.00 to fit the new part which I did. They kept the car for about 4 days and returned it supposedly repaired. The leaks have been ongoing all this time and my local garage have advised the head gasket has never been replaced at all.
The worst part was I'd had the car around 6 months and was driving one day, I had just pulled away from a set of traffic lights and the car in front suddenly stopped so I had to break sharp and my foot went straight to the floor the brakes had failed! The day before I had been on the motorway and I dread to think what could have been if it happened then.
I have over the last 2 years had so many repairs done on this car it mounts to not far short of a thousand pounds bearing in mind I paid three thousand pounds for the car so it shouldn't be a wreck on wheels, but it is, just recently I've had a new exhaust, new starting motor, new battery, oil switch, but over the 2 years it also had the radiator flushed twice as there was brown sludge in water which is still present, power steering pipes replaced the list is endless!
I did go to Trading Standards about my car and the garage in question, but I had the car over a year by then and they advised I should've reported it within the first year of buying the car. I'm now left with a car I can't sell on as its still not road worthy and I can't afford to trade it in at the moment and it will cost a further J400.00 to repair if I keep it and I don't even know if all the problems will be cured, I used all my savings to purchase this car with help from my family as well, I thought I was buying from a respectful garage and put all my trust in them only to be ripped off.
I will never trust another garage in my life, it has made my life so stressful and I'm actually quite depressed about it all but the so call garage owners won't be having any problems sleeping at night I'm sure! Please do not risk buying a car from Owlet Car Sales!!
