Scumbag garage, like I've seen on other negative reviews of this dive once you have taken a car your on your own! They sold me a volvo with a faulty steering rack! Absolute cowboys! I started the process of going through the warranty but ultimately gave up as I knew the warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on and I wouldn't get anywhere.

Eventually sold the car on with knowledge of this issue. I remember I noticed a slight knock in the steering and I mentioned it so they took it out and said oh its just abit of play. what a fool I was. Do not buy anything from them. They should be selling plastic spades and sand castles down the beach!

The worst people to get a car from! Once you have your car, they couldn't care less about you. They are very rude. I literally just had a so called manager hang up the phone on me. It is disgusting! Never ever going back to them again! I was even told by previous customers not to go there. and look now- they were completely correct. What a horrible set of people.

I'm the same guy who gave this company a 5 star review when I bought the car in December. 2021 But it was my biggest mistakes ever as I trusted them and didn't look elsewhere. The over priced And after having some financial issues I asked them if they can buy the car back as only had it for 3 months n haven't even used it n it's been kept in a private garage.

They didn't wanna know or even try to sort something out or be kinda helpful! I will never go back there again nor recommend them to any of my patients or friends. Very disappointing experience!

Have bought a few cars from Rob at McCarthys over the years and I wouldn't trust anyone else. I've always been made to feel welcome and looked after when I visit, I couldn't recommend Rob and everyone there enough. I've never had a problem with any car I've bought here, it's nice knowing that when I want to upgrade my ride I can call Rob and tell him what I'd like, he always gives me multiple options to suit and I know that it will be money well spent. We saw the first car on Autotrader and contacted Ross to come see the car the next day. The dealer was the closest to our locality and had very good reviews. We were so impressed with the service, maintenance and checks done on the car that we were confidently happy to go ahead with our purchase. Ross was also a great salesman that answered all our queries, especially since it was our first car in UK, and took us through the sales process where we had the car in less than 2 days from our time of agreement which is super quick.

A few weeks later we were followed up with Joe who checked everything was fine with the car and asked if we wanted to go with the service plan which we agreed too. I'm very impressed with everyone I dealt with as they very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend going with McCarthy Cars if you want to get the good quality second hand car.

I'd like to thank the McCarthy team for a wonderful service. My purchase was handled by Jonathan who handled my car purchase process and was able to hand me the car on the same day. I'd like to highlight the customer service that I received from the team and in special Jackie and James. Unfortunately, my car had a technical issue (which you might expect from a 60K miles, 6 year old Land Rover), I was amazed how wonderful and quick they were able to address the issue at hand.

I was given a courtesy car in less than two minutes once I arrived at the service centre by Jackie, who kindly and promptly, handled the issue with no hassle at all. Also, James was a real gentleman by handling my complain. Overall, despite the technical issue, what stood out for me was their unparalleled customer service and issue handling, which I haven't seen in many places such as the motoring sector, so I highly recommend and will certainly be looking forward to using their services again, upon nearing the end of my car finance contract. 5 stars: Excellent A minute ago I had an outstanding experience with. I had an outstanding experience with McCarthy cars from start to finish after having a previous bad experience from a garage. The staff at McCarthy cars are very friendly and really make things easy and comfortable when buying a new car, the car was lovely clean and polished. I would recommend this garage to any of my family and friends.

They great because everyone who works there are very knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. They clearly want you to be happy and don't pressure you at all, but provide an all round excellent service. We will certainly go back in the future and recommend them highly to our friends.

We were buying our first car in London. James was incredibly helpful and advised us well on every step. He listened to our needs and then suggested us a perfect car. The purchase process was really made painless and easy. James was friendly and knowledgeable. We both loved his personal but professional approach. After owning the car for less than 2 weeks the service engine light came in. McCarthy's were great, they 'fixed' it that day. However, since then the engine light has come on repeatedly and they are now too busy to fit the car in for repair. It is disgusting that dealers get away with selling cars that are not fit for purpose on the road and require repair within the initial 3 month warranty.

I was pleased with McCarthy Cars and would recommend them because the customer service is excellent. They really go above and beyond in how you are treated, it was so reassuring to have them take care of everything regarding the paperwork. They allow you to test drive alone which is great as sometimes you want to have a 'feel of the vehicle alone or with family member.

The vehicle I chose to purchase is one of the best cars I have owned, absolutely love it! It came with good service history, great condition and very clean. I will be back for my next car purchase, thank you to James.

Came here looking for a pre-owned car for my dad. Pushing aside all the 'rumours' of second hand car dealers we came here having pre-searched our vehicle on the internet and McCarthy Cars kept on cropping up. We live reasonably close so decided to pop down and see the options in person. Parking is available near by and the site is across two lots providing a variety of make and model of cars to look at.

A family run company, established here for decades, meant that I felt a little more comfortable about purchasing from here. It wasn't a site that had popped up and likely to disappear just as quickly also. We were pretty much left to look around without any hassle and when we found some we liked, were offered to take a look inside. They provided guidance, pointing out the different gadgets and workings of the insides.

They were also happy for test drives to happen and for us to take them for a drive by ourselves. We did not encounter any heavy sale but Mr McCarthy, was on hand to talk through the spec's of the different vehicles and very happy to show paperwork and checks they perform on all their cars. There was no bartering here however, the aftercare help and assistance provided meant that I felt this wasn't needed.

All cars are RAC checked and they provide a full service before you pick it up along with MOT up to date and taxed. The car we were interested in did have some little scratches on the side which I was told would be removed. I must admit, I was a little apprehensive about what they would see as 'removed' and I would see as 'removed' but, decided put my trust in them and have a little preparation for a discussion on said 'removed scratches'! Having come back a week later to pick up the car, I was very impressed.

You would not know that there were scratches on the side. Mr McCarthy lived up to his word to trust him! His son, James, assisted us on the finalisation of paperwork and signing up for RAC cover (also comes as part of the deal) which is an added bonus on top of everything else. Father and sons were all very informed, personable and easy to deal with. It has been a very pleasant experience so far and would recommend them to anyone looking for their 'pre-owned' car.

I bought a Toyota Rav 4 from McCarthy cars almost three months ago, all I have had is problems when I test drove it clutch felt a bit snappy but I thought it was the fact that I had driven an automatic car for three years, after a couple of days it was still the same, so I returned it so a mechanic could check it out. So some guy came out drove me round the block and said there was nothing wrong with it even though it still had the same symptoms I described, he made me feel so stupid as if I didn't know how to drive.

So I went away and tried to drive around the problem. Next thing that happened was three tyres were loosing air going almost flat in to or three days, so I took the car to a tyre shop who informed me that the tyres were leaking air from the sidewall even though there weren't damaged so I had to replace the one that was loosing the most air at the cost of J98, the other two I have to pump up every week or so.

If all that wasn't bad enough the battery kept going flat, turns out there were two faulty cells in it so I replaced that at the cost of J70, so J168 pounds so far on a car that had full service, full RAC inspection but battery levels, tyre pressures and correct function of the clutch and many other components, too much to list were or were not checked.

Back to the clutch couldn't get on with the way the car drove so I took it a Toyota main dealer and paid J138 for full diagnostic only to be told it was a clutch related problem, had the same checks done at three well known garages in Croydon and got the same answer although one of them said clutch and electrical fault with throttle body would be J1300 to replace them both.

By now I was quite upset I rang McCarthy's and said I will take the car to garage have the clutch changed, if it was not at fault I would pay, if it was faulty they would pay for work, eventually they agreed to do it in house to save labour cost, dropped the car off on the Tuesday morning and was told it would ready Wednesday, Wednesday afternoon I was told it would be Thursday, Thursday afternoon I was told Friday, I was not pleased at the news, but I was mortified to be told that they had given my car to a local garage, just happen to be a garage with a very bad reputation shoddy work.

So I went there on Friday afternoon to see the progress or lack of it, my car was in bits, two mechanics was just standing there, I asked what the problem was and was told they couldn't get the gearbox back in, I asked them was the clutch faulty and the mechanic just looked at me and said they can't tell me, the guy said that McCarthy's told them not to do it until Saturday.

Telephoned McCarthy's and was given bags and bags of excuses, so I left it at that. Monday Got a call from McCarthy cars saying car is ready. Went there and picked it up, on way back home I could hear a banging sound from underneath and the front of car so I took it to a proper local garage mechanic lifted it up and said you've got to be joking, there were six bolts loose, two holding the prop shaft, two holding the steering rack and one holding the sub frame and gearbox mount were in but less than finger tight.

I informed McCarthy cars and was told to take pictures and email it. Sent ten days ago and haven't had a reply. By the way the clutch still judders, my mechanic said there's a good chance it wasn't changed. So at the end of the day this has taught me a lesson, never ever buy another car from McCarthy cars never recommend them to anyone who values life.

Think on if you have bought a car from McCarthy cars and it has had mechanical work done, might be a good idea to get it checked by a good garage. For those of you thinking of buying a McCarthy car DON'T YOU WILL REGRET IT.
